Department Overview

Gas Regulatory and Risk comprises several teams focused on developing and maintaining gas guidance documents, acting as the liaison with our federal and state regulators, managing and ensuring compliance with all applicable code requirements and commitments, managing the response development for internal and external requests, developing a risk strategy and quantitative modeling, leading the development of a risk-informed and resourced work plan, and developing regulatory strategy to support PG&E’s position in regulatory proceedings. All teams within Gas Regulatory and Risk serve a customer base both within Gas Engineering and Gas Operations, as well as cross-functionally with other PG&E organizations.

This position is located within the Gas Regulatory Compliance department within the Gas Regulatory and Risk organization. The team is responsible for fostering pipeline safety compliance with its vision to advance our compliance culture in the gas organization by supporting, understanding, and adhering to regulatory requirements and commitments in service of our stakeholders.

 

Position Summary

This position will report to the Manager of Inspections and is responsible for supporting inspections performed by state and/or federal regulators. This position will be part of a team who manages activities for district/division field inspections and for program inspections.  Activities include responding to data requests, providing guidance documents, providing maintenance records, and performing research.  This position will also lead the preparation and response to inspection reports and may support the preparation of various regulatory compliance reports.  Focus will be on gas transmission and distribution functions. 

Position will require up to approximately 60% of travel time in work schedule.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory, with headquarters at Bishop Ranch in San Ramon.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $102,000

Bay Area Maximum: $162,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

 Qualifications

 Minimum:

• Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree or equivalent experience.
• Five (5) years of related experience.

Desired:

• Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Political Science, or a related discipline with a strong analytical component.
• Experience with regulatory and customer service issues related to the gas functional area.
• Experience in research, writing, and analyzing information.
• Knowledge and understanding of issues related to gas assets.
• Knowledge and understanding of PG&E’s gas business operations, generation, procurement, gas transmission, distribution, storage, facilities, and case processes.
• Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local government, political, and regulatory processes and issues.
• Ability to prepare complex analysis and recommendations to meet policy, regulatory compliance, and rate-related requests.
