Revenue Cycle Management Patient Account Representative

Duties and responsibilities:

· Research and resolve discrepancies on patient accounts, including misapplied payments, coordination of benefits, and denied claims.

· Respond promptly to inbound calls, emails, and correspondence from facilities, patients, and families regarding physician billing questions.

· Explain insurance benefits, coverage details, deductibles, co-pays, and patient responsibilities in a clear and empathetic manner.

· Identify and escalate trends or recurring issues to the billing and coding teams for investigation.

· Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility as needed.

· Serve as a key liaison between patients, clinical staff, and insurance carriers to ensure accurate and transparent billing practices.

· Review patient accounts to verify billing accuracy, completeness, and proper application of payments and adjustments.

· Uphold strict patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and all applicable privacy regulations.

· Complete administrative functions including data entry, documentation, and tracking of inquiries and account resolutions.

· Comply with all necessary procedures and regulations.

 

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as a Patient Account Representative or similar role

· Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and patient billing

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and compassion

· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability

· Proficiency in office software, including word processing and spreadsheets.

· High school diploma or equivalent required (Associates Preferred)

· Certified Medical Billing or Certified Medical Coder

· Job Title: Patient Account Representative

· Work Environment: Position is remote. Standard office hours apply, though some evenings or weekends may be required.

· Reporting Structure: Reports to the Senior Director of Revenue Cycle Management.

· Salary: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

· Pay Range: $45,000 minimum to $65,000 maximum.
