About the role:
The Sr. Employee Benefits Consultant will support a dedicated large national account customer working collaboratively with members of their benefits team to perform a variety of strategic planning and project management activities in the administration of group Health & Welfare benefit programs. This role supports a Fortune ranked- employer with a prime focus on their vendor management and benefit programs onsite in Dallas, Texas.
Core responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Establish strong relationships with employees, internal resources, and vendor partners to drive success for all benefits programs and support the day to day needs of the client.
- Act as the primary liaison for Benefits Administration vendor and internal employee facing services for all aspects of their benefit administration activities; including managing and responding to concerns, claims, general questions, annual enrollment preparations, new benefit implementations and issues as they arise.
- Act as point person and project manager for implementation of benefits programs, driving program set up with coordination between carriers, vendors, brokers and the benefit team based on client preferences.
- Consults with benefit team and/or senior management on cross-group project prioritization.
- Develops new program management methodologies that accelerate schedules and maximize constrained resources.
- Partner with benefits vendors to monitor performance guarantees with respect to established customer service measures and ensure vendor performance is aligned with client expectations and execution of program commitments are provided.
- Provide regular updates and guidance to benefits team, Benefits Administration vendor, and HR partners on applicable benefits and processes through project team meetings and status presentations.
- Lead or assists with other benefits projects and specific duties as assigned by Team Leader/Manager.
- Other duties may be assigned to assist the benefits team with day-to-day benefits administration task including compliance, employee issue resolution, appeals research, communication development, training, etc.
Skills needed:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in work experience required.
- Minimum 4-7 years of experience in benefits program management role at comparable level reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
- Visionary thinker who can see what’s possible and build consensus around innovative benefits ideas to promote employee benefits offerings
- Ability to think critically and strategically to contribute to the Client’s benefits offerings and promote successful, innovative solutions. Comprehensive knowledge of group benefit plans and demonstrated understanding in the administration of benefits processes and programs required
- Demonstrates good listening and has the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, effective partnerships and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization through confident interpersonal, verbal and written communications and presentations
- Demonstrates good business judgement and creative thinking to anticipate needs, troubleshoot problems, and derive solutions. Shares knowledge and expertise professionally and acts in the best interest of the client’s business.
- Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills. Skilled at driving consensus with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong work ethic with positive drive and approach, including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with dynamic teams. Collaborates to keep others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company.
- Strong attention to detail with highly developed organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and manage strict deadline and turnaround time requirements
- Creativity, enthusiasm and passion for voluntary benefits and demonstrated ability to use excellent judgment skills.
