Senior Quality Engineer

Vertiv is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer in Lincoln, NE responsible for establishing product reliability targets, quality planning, coordinating Quality function preparation for manufacturing facility launches, supporting ongoing process capability, and leading resolution of global product field failures. The senior quality engineer is the Quality function lead for in-plant quality of product manufactured by metal works for use in Lincoln operations and for out-going quality of product to customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the development of FMEAs and control plans and maintains the resulting protocols for processing materials into finished products
Develops standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of both manufactured and purchased products
Supports Supplier Quality and the plants in the execution of supplier PPAPs.
Approves PPAPs from the plants.
Leads corrective action activities and facilitates cross-functional teams in the application of the 8D methodology.
Supports plant efforts to address customer complaints and returns.
Monitors global product field failure rates to drive improvement and inform future reliability targets.
Initiates continuous improvements to reduce costs and increase performance. Supports the plants in the roll-out of global improvement initiatives.
Applies statistical techniques (including SPC) where appropriate.
Supports the execution and maintenance of an ISO 9001 certified quality management system.
Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position
REQUIREMENTS
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve and prevent a wide range of problems quickly and methodically
Ability to support operations with capability studies of new processes and new materials
Ability to support operations through internal supplier quality improvement initiatives
Must be comfortable interfacing with customer and at times traveling to sites to provide corrective action presentations and root cause analysis
Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to manage four to seven hourly personnel after six months
Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree with minimum 7-10 years of engineering, manufacturing quality experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with minimum 5-7 years of experience
Or equivalent work experience
ASQ CQE preferred

Heavy Lifting (over 20 Ibs.)
Frequent Standing
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors)
Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, steel-toed shoes, mask, etc.)
TRAVEL TIME REQUIRED
5% to support customer issues as needed
