Senior Data & Applied Scientist

<p><span>Our team of applied and data scientists works on creating sustainable online advertising marketplaces owned by Microsoft Advertising and its partners. We develop algorithms on behalf of all marketplace participants contributing significantly to the long-term success of the Microsoft Advertising business. In our team, you will work with highly trained and supportive colleagues and have an opportunity to design and lead independent projects.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><span>As a <strong>Senior Data &amp; Applied Scientist</strong> in our team, your focus will be on studying relations between different agents in the online advertising marketplace, searching for market inefficiencies, and proposing solutions to make the marketplace more robust and competitive. On the technical side, you will analyze data, propose state-of-the-art solutions and algorithms, implement these algorithms, and test your solutions in A/B experiments.</span></p><p> </p><p><span>Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. You‘ll provide strategic direction for the kinds of data used to solve problems and apply deep subject matter knowledge to support business impact.</span></li><li><span>Build data pipelines and software to support rapid implementation of solutions, experimentation, dashboards, and diagnostics.</span></li><li><span>Bring new technology and approaches into production.</span></li><li><span>Document work in progress and experimentation results and share findings to promote innovation. </span></li></ul> <h3>Qualifications</h3> <p><span><strong>Required Qualifications: </strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)</span><ul><li><span>OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)</span></li><li><span>OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)</span></li><li><span>OR equivalent experience.</span></li></ul></li><li><p><span>Expertise in any of the following fields: Game Theory, Auction Theory, Mechanism Design or experience with online advertising.</span></p></li></ul><p><span><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)</span><ul><li><span>OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)</span></li><li><span>OR equivalent experience.</span></li></ul></li><li><span>Experience creating publications (e.g., patents, libraries, peer-reviewed academic papers).</span></li><li><span>Experience presenting at conferences or other events in the outside research/industry community as an invited speaker.</span></li><li><span>Experience conducting research as part of a research program (in academic or industry settings).</span></li><li><span>Experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.</span></li><li><span>Experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.</span></li><li><span>Expertise in any of the following fields: Game Theory, Auction Theory, Mechanism Design or experience with online advertising.</span></li></ul><p><span>Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
