Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization Specialist

The Opportunity:

Warnings about cyber threats are everywhere and the constantly evolving nature of these threats can make understanding them seem overwhelming to DoD military organizations. In all of this “cyber noise”, how can these organizations understand their risks and how to mitigate them? The answer is you – an IT Assessment and Authorization Specialist who will break down complex threats into manageable plans of action. 

As a Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization Specialist on our team, you’ll use your experience to review ATO packages for compliance and approval. Your input will help the client protect their IT systems used in health care research. You will help them discover and mitigate their cybersecurity risks, understand and apply policies to address requests for information on cyber best practices, and provide information system security expertise to ensure the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for information systems. You will collaborate closely with ISSOs. You’ll work with your client to translate security concepts into actionable implementable solution recommendations to help the client make informed security decisions. This is your opportunity to act as an information security subject matter expert while broadening your skills in cybersecurity.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and conducting assessments to obtain an Authority to Operate (ATO)

  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53 security controls and implementations

  • Ability to work collaboratively and explain complex topics to others

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Knowledge of risk and how one measures risk with respect to IT systems

  • Knowledge of IT for systems used in health care or health research

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • CAP or CISSP certification preferred
