The One Amex platform is a collection of open-source and in-house libraries including technologies like React.js, redux, GraphQL, Jest, Webpack, Node.js, Java 8, Redis, Vert.x, Druid, Superset, and many more. It’s a suite of products where patterns have been developed for solving cross cutting concerns like security, cloud native serverless hosting, testing, internationalization, analytics, server-side rendering, CI/CD, and many more to come.

Enterprise Web Intelligence team whose directive is to develop new products and platforms for American Express customers. You should be familiar with modern software development methodologies and be able to investigate and rapidly iterate on ideas despite ambiguity.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Contribute to high level design as well as detailed design of complex subsystems with emphasis in high availability and low latency.
• Define and revise architectural guiding principles to steer Web Search platform and solution development together with our architects.
• Design and build data models (logical and physical) to support analytics, reporting, and operational workloads.
• Review data requirements, data stories, and source to target mappings to ensure seamless integration into existing architecture
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, database objects, and metadata documentation aligned with enterprise standards
• Support performance tuning, scalability improvements, and optimization of data processing workflows.
• Conduct proof of concept to validate the feasibility and performance of proposed solutions aligning with project goals and requirements.
• Engage and work with cross-functional leaders to understand and help define business principles, goals, and strategy within scope of responsibility. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Expertise in the definition and implementation of effective software engineering practices and processes that result in high speed to market:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience. Experience in all phases of software development including design, configuration, testing, debugging, implementation, and support of large-scale, business centric and process-based applications
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, or cloud data platforms.
• 5+ years of development experience with Java (minimum Java 8), Python, or Go
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, Shell scripting.
• Experience with GCP services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Composer).
• Experience with ETL/ELT development, data warehousing, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Big Data ecosystems, distributed processing, and event driven pipelines (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
