Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker (Power Plant) for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois to receive day to day guidance from the Chief Stationary Engineer. Monitors electrical power related to the output of heating and air-conditioning units and maintains records. Assists Stationary Engineer’s in cleaning motors and changing filters as necessary. Makes minor repairs such as repacking bearing of motors and oiling/lubricating electrical equipment and appliances including refrigeration systems.
Essential Functions
- Acts as general assistant to stationary engineer, rendering help in the operation, installation, repair and maintenance of all plant equipment.
- Repairs and maintains all equipment and fixtures of the facility.
- Operates coal conveyor, front end loader and mechanical equipment in unloading coal and removing ashes from boiler pits, fills coal hoppers in power plant and operates coal conveyor.
- Performs emergency repairs on equipment fixtures essential to the comfort and safety of residents and staff.
