The director of Clinical Opportunity Research will be at the forefront of our mission to transform healthcare by leading the research analytics workstream with uncovers clinical opportunities. The Trend/Revenue analytics includes the identification of new clinical initiative opportunities for strategy partners to build clinical programs targeting. The director will lead a team dedicated to analyzing claims data to identify opportunities for the development and implementation of new clinical programs aimed at reducing overall spend while improving patient outcomes. To complete this responsibility the director will develop a systematic process or strategy to identify these opportunities which might include building new advanced analytic tools, staying abreast of current healthcare trends, and value sizing the potential opportunities. The director will own relationships with key stakeholders to review results, intake ideas, and provide expert opinion on analyses. The director will own and maintain a prioritized backlog of research opportunities and will lead a team of analytic associates to execute upon the backlog. In addition to the clinical opportunity research the director will oversee the analytics involved in maintaining and expanding care management programs at Humana which can be a primary implementation mechanism for clinical programs. To be successful with this the director must collaborate with clinical and operational teams to design and roll out targeted interventions based on data-driven insights. The director will lead the data science team in the development of predictive models and algorithms to forecast trends in healthcare utilization and costs, communicate complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner to stakeholders across the company, and stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and healthcare technology to continually enhance the company’s analytical capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, and/or related field and 6 or more years of experience
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience
  • Experience leveraging large sets of structured and unstructured data to develop tactical and strategic insights
  • Experience developing and validating statistical forecasting models and tools
  • Experience interpreting and communicating analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners and executive decision makers
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible, dynamic personality who works well in a team environment and is also able to lead individual contributors
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD
  • Healthcare or managed care experience
  • Demonstrated experience with SAS, QlikView, SQL, PL/SQL, MATLABR or similar statistical tools
  • Experience performing data management, mining, and manipulation along with analytics

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$168,800 - $232,300 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
