About the role
Collegiate Hotel Group® is seeking a Barista to join Graduate New Haven and its brilliant team of hospitality enthusiasts.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs
- Promotes Graduate culture by exhibiting positivity and adhering to brand standards
- Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu
- Sells coffees and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates
- Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks
- Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
- Assist in washing all dishware, utensils, glassware, serving items associated with service
- Assist with preparation of food items for outlet as needed
- Maintains cleanliness of coffee station, dining area, and kitchen equipment
- Responsible for completion of opening and closing checklists during shift
- Responsible in assisting with training of new associates
- Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar
- Adherence to the attendance policy and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS
- Provides exceptional Guest Service
- Bus and set tables, including condiments as needed
- Prepare room for events: set tables, linen cloth chaffing dishes, sternos, dishes, silverware, beverage station, as needed
- Responsible for break down of beverage stations, and food stations upon conclusion of the event. Assist with break down of other event related items as needed (linen, chaffing dishes)
- Upon breakdown of event, responsible for bringing items (dishware, serve ware, glassware, utensils) to dish pit and assist with washing as needed
- Must be familiar with all menu items, their preparation and service procedure
- Assist with transporting food and beverage items from kitchen to event space and placing in appropriate place on the buffet
- Ensure buffet and stationary platters remain replenished throughout duration of the event
