Distinguished Engineer – MarTech and Ads Engineering

Position Summary   

​​GEICO MarTech and Ads organization is seeking an experienced Distinguished Engineer with a passion for building high-scale, high-performance, and zero-downtime platforms.  You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement. 

Position Description  

Our Distinguished Engineers work with other DEs, Senior Staff and Staff engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing systems and identify new opportunities to apply their knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the speed of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate should have deep technical expertise in their domain. 

Position Responsibilities  

​​​As a Distinguished Engineer, you will:  

• ​Focus on multiple areas and provide technical leadership to the MarTech and Ads organization 

• ​​Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems  

• Develop and execute technical software development strategy for a variety of domains 

• ​Accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions 

• ​Utilize programming languages like Java, React, GraphQL, Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services 

• ​Mentor and help coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community 

• Influence and educate leadership at all levels 

• ​Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams 

• Analyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plans 

• Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, demonstrate adaptability and sponsor continuous learning 

Qualifications  

• ​​Fluency and specialization with Java, React and GraphQL 

• ​Experience building products of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs 

• Experience with AI and ML technologies including MLflow, PyTorch, VectorDBs and more 

• ​Experience building the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)   

• ​​Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code 

• ​Fluency in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture and Azure DevOps Operational Framework   

• ​Experience in existing operational portals such as Azure Portal
