About the Role
This is a dream role for the right person. It’s an opportunity to build from the ground up at a company that is thoughtful and prioritizes people. You will be the internal expert on compliance with employment regulations for the U.S, develop HR practices, policies and trainings, and will be a standard-bearer for Pinecone’s culture. This role will report to the Director of People and will support all employees in the Americas.
*This role is for a short time assignment, March - August
Responsibilities
Respond to employee questions, escalating as is appropriate
Collaborate closely with the HR Generalist, EMEA
Build, improve, streamline, and automate our HR practices
Participate in the creation of new policies
Own onboarding and off boarding of employees in the Americas
Host onboarding sessions for new hires
Help develop and host employee trainings
Manage HR vendor relationships
Ensure data integrity in our HR systems
Build and maintain our knowledge base / wiki
Facilitate performance review and engagement survey cycles
Coordinate the open enrollment process and manage benefits in the Americas
Coordinate global mobility / work authorization activities
Collaborate on cross-team projects, like the annual employee offsite
Be a standard-bearer for Pinecone’s culture and values
Participate in the interview process to ensure that we maintain a high standard and ensure that new hires are culture adds
Skills, Behaviors, and Experience:
An all-around good human who treats others with kindness, has high emotional intelligence, and a modern approach to HR
A minimum of 6 years in an HR role at a fast-paced, start-up environment
Experience ensuring company compliance with employment laws (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, etc.) and practices
Experience managing US employee benefits, including a 401k
A customer-service mindset and strong internal drive to create great employee experiences
A natural ability to build trust with employees and to build relationships with colleagues in other functional areas
A strong work ethic and sense of urgency
The ability to be onsite in our midtown, New York office ~3 days per week
Experience handling confidential information
A Bachelor’s Degree
Experience moving off of a PEO to in-house is a big plus
