About the role

Position Summary

The Caseworker/Receptionist supports both the business and social service functions of The St. Cloud Corps.  Receptionist duties include being the first contact for people either visiting in person or calling in by phone, and providing them with information or direction as needed. The Receptionist will provide receptionist duties and provide clerical assistance to office staff, and assist with data entry.  Caseworker duties include assisting clients by providing resources and information according to established Salvation Army policies and procedures. Interviewing clients as needed for Food Shelf and assisting with the recruitment of Pathway of Hope families. 

Pathway of Hope is an approach to providing targeted case management services to families with a desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of intergenerational poverty. 

 

Wage: $18/hour, full time, Monday-Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This job description is not all inclusive.  It is intended to identify the essential duties of the position.  Other duties, responsibilities and tasks may be assigned by Corps officer/Social Services Program Coordinator.

  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others’ property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
  • Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client, donor, and colleague with respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.
  • Engage all community members (including and not limited to, clients, visitors, volunteers, etc.) in a way that brings them to the Corps for programming, activities, events, and Pathway of Hope.

 

Receptionist

  • Greet visitors as they enter the building and assist as needed.
  • Assist Office Manager/other staff with routine clerical duties, including making photocopies, stuffing envelopes.
  • Receive and record donations. Providing donation receipts to donors.  Record mail appeal donations.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist or transfer calls as appropriate.
  • Update and maintain filing system.

 

Caseworker

  • Adhere to the guiding principles of The Salvation Army's social services ministries as outlined in Faith In Action with an emphasis on intentional outreach in the area of holistic care to those we serve.
  • Assist clients with filling out The Salvation Army Assistance Applications.
  • Maintain required statistics (calls and referrals) as required.
  • Interview clients, collect, and enter data into Service Point/HMIS.
  • Be knowledgeable of all Salvation Army Social Service and Corps programs.
  • Conduct recruitment of Pathway of Hope participants.
  • Participate in office and other POH meetings including support calls, cluster meetings, and team meetings
  • Network with other community professionals and share about programming, as assigned.
  • Assist in the staffing and planning of educational groups as appropriate.
  • Attend educational opportunities when appropriate.

 

Other Duties

  • Assist with special projects/events and seasonal programs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Working Conditions

There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients.  The duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home.

 

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk Level

Risk Level 1 - The tasks or activities conducted by Risk Level 1 would involve no known expectation of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
