The Opportunity

As a dedicated Corporate Real Estate Strategic Business Partner Lead, you will establish strategic partnerships and maintains effective relationships as a primary liaison, passionate about Workforce and Workplace strategies, between Corporate Real Estate and assigned business unit(s). Provides critical organizational level analyses, consultative mentorship, and expertise in facilitating and resolving sophisticated business problems related to Real Estate, Workplace, and Employee Services. Leads development of effective and appropriate solutions to drive business unit success.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week.

This position will be based in the San Antonio, TX office location.

What you'll do:

  • Accountable for providing thought leadership to drive real estate portfolio strategy solutions.

  • Leads real estate strategy and execution, driving large, association-wide programs across USAA and/or multiple Companies/Functions to support association business objectives. These programs include portfolio optimization, financial performance (e.g., capital and expense management), and risk management to support strategic imperatives that guide the future of the association.

  • Collaborates and consults with key Association business partners in HR, Technology, and Finance to integrate strategic real estate solutions with financial and operational planning for initiatives aligned with Corporate Real Estate and Workplace Services plans and objectives.

  • Often serves as a proxy for executive leadership on key issues; serves as an internal consultant to other areas within Corporate Real Estate Workplace Services (CREWS).

  • Drives implementation of moderate to highly complex cross-functional work typically requiring confidentiality and association-level visibility to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives. Facilitates collaboration across business units on creative alternatives to project challenges.

  • Leverages data and insights to drive real estate optimization (e.g. Space Occupancy and Utilization, Cease of Use, Real Estate Acquisition or Expansions, Capital Investment, etc.); provides key insights to senior leaders and association stakeholders to influence regional and global business strategy.

  • Communicates and collaborates on strategies, objectives, needs and requirements to identify, plan and prioritize solutions to enable USAA's portfolio strategy.

  • Oversees Company/Functions adherence to real estate practices and workplace guidelines in alignment with association strategy and employee experience.

  • Actively manages ambiguity and consistently seeks to drive clarity amongst team, partners stakeholders to maximize efficiencies, user adoption and minimize overall risk.

  • Conducts periodic and ad hoc meetings with senior leaders to foster strong internal customer relationships. Drives Third-Party partners in the development, approval and execution of solutions across multiple Companies/Functions; provides guidance to ensure consistent alignment with Companies/Functions Strategy.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

  • Some travel is required.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 or more years of progressive experience in Business Operations, Corporate Real Estate, Finance, Strategy, Business Development, or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams across geographical boundaries or projects requiring strong collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, to include leading transformation or change management efforts within a corporate environment.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating and influencing executive management and cross-functional teams with long-range thinking.
