About the Position

Empress Therapeutics is seeking a Compound Management Research Associate to join our Platform Development in a role critical to the function of our Chemilogics platform.  You will be responsible for tracking the quality, quantity, location, and transfer of molecules within the physical company compound library and associated database. This position will collaborate with various teams to fulfill compound requests for dry and solution-based compound samples to be used in downstream biological function assays. Experience running HPLC and/or LCMS for quality control (QC) is preferred. You will demonstrate an attention to detail, have strong organizational and communication skills, and must be driven, resourceful, and able to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Register CRO-generated and in-house purified compounds into our database and laboratory information management system(LIMS)
  • Keep detailed and up-to-date compound inventory (solids and solutions), including physical stocks in the lab and digital documentation in an electronic lab notebook
  • Prepare stock solutions and samples for internal and external assays, screens, and shipping to external partners
  • Fulfill compound-related requests from research teams
  • Coordinate the import and export of compound shipments and work with expeditor to ship, track, and ensure delivery
  • Perform routine quality control (QC) on compounds used in biological assays
  • Familiarity will Biochemical and Cell-based assays for compound function is desirable
  • Develop compound management workflows and assist with chemistry-related tasks as needed
  • Experience with Automation is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or related discipline
  • Basic understanding of compound management principles and workflows
  • Experience using HPLC and LC-MS platforms for quality control (QC)
  • Experience with inventory/request database systems for compound and/or biological sample management (LIMS)
  • Experience working in a lab environment, drawing and confirming chemical structures, and handling chemical solutions and powders
  • In-depth understanding of small molecule stereochemistry
  • Highly organized with an ability to keep accurate and detailed documentation.
  • Self-driven and comfortable working with highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, propose improvements to company workflows, and assist other teams with other projects as needed
