Job Posting Description

This Sterile Processing Technician III will be responsible for:

  • Following departmental policies/procedures and transporting carts of instrumentation or medical materials to and from designated areas within the surgical suites or SPD. Restocking OR surgical core with surgical instrumentation sterilized in SPD following departmental policies/procedures and instructions
  • Receiving, sorting, cleaning and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments, equipment and materials following manufacturer’s instructions.  Manually recording items/materials received in department logs. Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope reprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers
  • Inspecting, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and other materials. Assembling trays and packets of instruments, medical supplies for surgical procedures according to standardized content lists and manufacturers guidelines.  Loading and operating sterilizers, programming settings and monitors temperature and other critical readings during run cycle
  • Answering departmental telephones and forwarding calls as needed. Responding to requests for routine factual information, referring more complex inquiries to charge person/supervisor
  • Responding to customer requests and resolving problems as needed
 
To qualify, you must have:
  • Certification of Sterile/Central Processing is strongly preferred
  • A high school degree or GED equivalent is required
  • A minimum of three years experience in Sterile Processing/ Central Processing is required
  • Previous experience with Endoscopes is required
  • A strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to develop working relationships with staff
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Flexibility and the willingness to change assignments due to department needs
