About the role

Naumi Hotels is a boutique hospitality group, whose brand is synonymous with whimsical spaces, imaginative micro-experiences, bespoke services and prime locality.

We are searching for a resourceful and efficient Handyperson / Maintenance Technician with a can-do attitude, who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty. The opportunity is for a full-time permanent role with minimum 40 hours of work per week, between Monday to Sunday as per roster.

This role reports into Maintenance Manager and supports basic maintenance of property and equipment in our historic Heritage Building. This is a busy and dynamic role, and is best suited to an individual who takes initiative to identify and respond to maintenance issues, is a creative problem solver, and has good communication skills.

Naumi Wellington consists of two hotels in one location in the heart of Cuba Street. Naumi Studio Wellington is an iconic heritage landmark with 116 rooms and Naumi Hotels Wellington, boasts 62 large Suites. Both hotels are a visual feast for the senses not to mention our highly ranked restaurant in Wellington, Lola Rouge restaurant and bar.

What you will be doing …

  • Maintain and improve the presentation and general upkeep of the hotel buildings, surroundings, facilities, services and equipment
  • Conduct routine maintenance of systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency
  • Undertake and execute the maintenance plans with the team
  • Monitoring and maintenance of swimming pool and equipment (pump, vacuum, pool temperature, etc.)
  • Support contracted professionals, such as carpenters, electricians and plumbers on specialised maintenance tasks
  • Liaise with other departments such as Front Office and Housekeeping to execute maintenance requests in rooms or within the property
  • Preventative maintenance of property and equipment

Ideally you will...

  • Maintenance Technician certification and/or relevant trade school diploma
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces
  • Idea of WorkSafe NZ regulations and knowledge of PPE for daily tasks
