We are seeking a Marketing Director to join the Ballantine Bantam Dell marketing team and lead priority campaigns for bestselling authors, breakout debuts, and books with broad cultural impact (8-10 campaigns each span). This is an opportunity to work on some of the most anticipated commercial fiction and nonfiction published every year.

This role is ideal for an experienced title marketer who thrives on developing ambitious, creative campaigns for bestselling authors and high-profile books. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with authors, agents, and cross-functional partners, brings big-picture thinking to every campaign, and excels at managing a dynamic portfolio of priorities. We're looking for someone with deep title marketing experience, strong creative instincts, and the ability to balance fresh thinking with thoughtful execution.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Campaign Leadership: Drive marketing campaigns for a broad list of fiction and nonfiction titles, combining big-picture planning with hands-on digital and social execution.
  • Author & Agent Collaboration: Partner closely with authors and agents to develop customized marketing campaigns that reflect each author's vision, connect with readers, and support their publishing goals.
  • People Management: Manage and mentor 2–3 marketers, supporting their growth while collaborating with the Senior Director on team development and department initiatives.
  • Insights & Optimization: Turn audience insights, market trends, and sales data into actionable strategy, setting clear goals and refining tactics to improve performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner across editorial, publicity, sales, consumer marketing, publishing, and leadership to align priorities, maximize opportunities, and deliver cohesive marketing campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 8–10+ years of marketing experience, preferably in trade publishing, with a proven track record of leading successful title campaigns.
  • Skills: Strong strategic thinking and creative campaign development; strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills; able to influence and build trust at all levels of the business. Outstanding organizational ability and the capacity to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiencies: Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva. Knowledge of Adobe Workfront and Creative Suite is a plus
