Reports to Title: Head of North America Payroll

Department/Division: Finance

Primary Work Location: Bloomington, MN

Position Overview

Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for US locations. Support and manage system integrations of Payroll, HRIS, and Time & Attendance systems. Provide day-to-day customer support to managers and staff relating to utilized systems and processes.

  • Responsible for Payroll, HRIS, and Time & Attendance systems with ADP EV6, ADP Workforce Manager and Workday.
  • Maintain the functionality and reliability of the systems to ensure applications meet the needs, requirements, and objectives of the company.
  • Process biweekly US payroll.
  • Critically review payroll and HRIS procedures.
  • Oversee future development activities, including system upgrades and implementation of additional applications and functionality.
  • Leads the planning and execution of human resources system projects, business requirements, business processes and workflows, system configuration and changes, controls, and security.
  • Manage payroll exceptions to standard policies. Ensure policies are adhered to regarding all payroll and personnel matters.
  • Work with peers to set technology priorities and conduct long term planning.
  • Ensure processes are effective in meeting customer’s expectations and are operating efficiently.
  • Conduct internal system audit for data integrity.
  • Ensure data is accurate and complies with Government Agency guidelines.
  • Analyze work process design and flow.
  • Manage interfaces between vendors and systems.
  • Develop reporting and analytical needs for the business, including developing regularly-scheduled reports and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Create training materials, guides, and documentation.
  • Provide end user training.
  • Provides daily support, including researching and resolving HRIS problems, unexpected results or process flaws. Main point of escalation for Payroll/HRIS team to ensure resolution.
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and developments of providers, vendors and technology to ensure greater efficiencies are achieved and best practice operations.
  • Serve as backup to other Payroll positions
  • Additional projects, as assigned

Competencies (Knowledge and Skills needed for this position.)

  • Computer experience in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Previous experience training, coaching and developing team members
  • Broad understanding of all aspects of payroll, accounting and HR departments in a manufacturing and service company
  • Strong organizational skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in work schedule with ability to work longer days during payroll deadlines and year-end processing
  • Prior system conversion experience a plus.
  • Follow the HR policy including all company and department policies and procedures
  • Meet all performance and behavior expectations outlined in the company performance appraisal and / or communicated by management

Desired Qualifications

Preferred Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Human Resources; or equivalent work experience and knowledge.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of related payroll experience in a multi-state/country environment. 
  • Prior system conversion experience a plus.
  • Specific training in HRIS, Payroll and Timekeeping Systems
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) desired
