PURPOSE

The Life University Shuttle Service Driver provides bus transportation services for university employees, students, and visitors including special events and park-and-ride operations, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety. Monitors equipment and performs limited maintenance. Provides information and public affairs services.

The Shuttle Service supports the daily routines of the campus community, operating within the Standards of Serving Lasting Purpose, while providing a pleasant experience for all passengers. Also supports the mission and vision of Life University within the framework of this purpose statement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

1. Drives a university owned shuttle bus, providing safe and efficient transportation to the University community and its visitors.
2. Transport passengers within a designated route and schedule in a timely manner.
3. Must arrive to work on time, drive designated vehicle following a set schedule and route, and wear university issued uniform.
4. Perform routine vehicle inspections for DOT compliance and maintain accurate records.
5. Requires some weekend and evening hours.
6. Will be responsible for maintaining interior and exterior cleanliness of shuttle as requested.
7. Familiarity with Outlook Email and MS Word.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” Endorsement for State of Georgia in good standing.
3. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
4. Must possess a valid DOT medical card

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

1. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
2. Confidence in taking initiative and using logic and good judgment.
3. Records all pre-trip and post-trip data
4. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
5. Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance
6. Ability to safely and efficiently operate a loaded passenger bus

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. One year of driving experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

2. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS 

1. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
2. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
