At WGU, our mission driven work is focused on expanding access to education and empowering learners through clear, effective, and scalable learning experiences. As a Senior Learning Experience Designer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex, technical learning programs that support enterprise systems, processes, and onboarding at scale. You will influence strategy, guide cross functional partners, and serve as a lead designer on high impact initiatives while mentoring and supporting the broader learning team.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of large scale, complex learning experiences for corporate and technical training initiatives

  • Serve as a lead on select projects, owning design strategy, scope, and outcomes from discovery through launch

  • Translate complex systems, tools, and workflows into effective, scenario based and branching learning experiences

  • Design and evolve onboarding programs that include job specific and technical content for diverse learner audiences

  • Partner closely with stakeholders, SMEs, and cross functional teams to align learning solutions with business and performance outcomes

  • Guide aspects of team execution such as communication plans, design approach alignment, and project coordination

  • Conduct and apply qualitative and quantitative research, using feedback as a core input to continuously improve learning effectiveness

  • Present and deliver training to large audiences and support technical learning needs, including participation in system outage notification on call rotations related to the LMS

What You’ll Bring

  • Advanced expertise in learning experience and instructional design, informed by adult learning theory and learning science

  • Experience leading learning design efforts across large scale institutional initiatives and complex cross functional projects

  • Strong planning and project leadership skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in an agile environment

  • Proven experience designing branching, scenario based learning and technical, process driven training

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, guide decision making, and drive alignment across teams

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficiency with learning and design tools such as Articulate, Illustrator, and Photoshop to rapidly prototype and produce high quality learning assets

Bonus Points

  • Experience developing and maintaining enterprise knowledge bases or process documentation

  • Experience supporting or partnering with LMS administration or technical teams

  • Passion for pushing learning design forward through innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement
