The Director of Human Resources serves as a key member of the Management Team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Tenet Florida Physician Services with a matrix reporting relationship to the Regional Director, Human Resources in Florida. The Director of Human Resources oversees a Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Generalist, Recruiting Manager and Recruiter in TFPS.

Responsibilities

The Director of Human Resources has the primary responsibility for assessing, planning, directing, implementing and evaluating all HR activities.

 The Director will supervise the HR activities of individuals who provide local HR support, e.g

  • Coach corporate directors and below on hiring, termination, performance and discipline issues
  • Provide project support to execute (not design) HR Organization Effectiveness projects for TFPS.
  • Duties: Coordinate HR department activities,  Review documents  created by HR Customer Service.
  • Establish HR processes (hiring, ER issues, terminations)
  • Direct physician practice issues
  • Guide Tenet Physician Services in handling HR issues regarding employed physicians

The Director implements and adheres to corporate and facility personnel policies and procedures. The Director acts as an employee advocate with current approaches to the administration of human resources guidelines, applies principles of human resources management through knowledge of EEOC, federal and state labor laws and ADA requirements, and has responsibility for benefits administration, labor relations and file management.

The Director assists in providing department directors and managers with continued guidance in the area of employee relations, maintains current knowledge of human resources related legislation and takes ownership for communicating changes to management and staff as appropriate. 

The Director of Human Resources has responsibility for setting department mission and vision.

 The Director also has responsibility for assisting with counseling and disciplinary action when necessary, overseeing the development and maintenance of an ongoing Performance Improvement Program and communicating and collaborating with other staff for problem identification and resolution.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist in overseeing the performance evaluation program, including annual, promotional and demotional proposals, within the allotted timeframes and within the competency levels established.
  • Counsel employees and, as necessary, take appropriate disciplinary action for infractions of policy according to Tenet’s Performance Management Program.
  • Assist with planning and maintaining staffing necessary to meet the needs of the TFPS 
  • Ensure compliance to procedures for safety and comfort of employees to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist the regional office with management of Workers’ Compensation claims by employees. 
  • Ensure the recruitment needs are being handled effectively.
  • Oversee the new hire policies and procedures along with the new employee orientation, oversee promotion and transfer policy and applicable procedures, and oversee the termination process and related activities in accordance with approved time tables.
  • Ensure that each employee is informed of his/her benefits.
  • Assist in overseeing the employee relations functions to encourage the most effective employer/employee relationships.
  • Oversee the Fair Treatment Policy and administer the Performance Management System to ensure objectivity and compliance with policies and procedures as established.
  • Maintain that TFPS performs all employee relations/human resources functions with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient/employee/facility corporate information.
  • Assists in moving forward the TFPS employee engagement initiative with the intent of increasing overall employee satisfaction.
  • Monitors turnover and looks for trends.
  • Participate in the physician on-boarding process.
