Position Summary

The co-op will support ongoing neuroscience research by performing in vitro cell culture experiments using human iPSC-derived cells, ex vivo/in vivo target engagement and pharmacodynamic assays, along with various other molecular biology techniques including RT-PCR and qPCR. The student will gain hands-on experience in cell culture, assay development, and data analysis to evaluate novel therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
 

The full-time Co-op will take place January – June 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to RNA extraction, reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR), and quantitative PCR (qPCR) from cells and tissue
  • Sterile culture and maintain iPSC-derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia
  • Support assay optimization and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records, including data entry and documentation in electronic lab notebooks.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro and/or in vivo assays preferred
  • Prior experience with cell culture, exposure to RNA purification, RT-PCR and qPCR preferred.
  • Experience in primary mouse neuron or glial cell culture preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $35.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
