 ClickUp is seeking a leader in revenue accounting and revenue operations that has strengths in developing comprehensive, end-to-end revenue and billing strategies. This individual has a strong and balanced understanding of ASC 606, internal controls, and systems implementation.

The ideal Revenue Accounting Director understands the importance of revenue operations and has prior experience in working with finance and cross-functional teams to build revenue recognition and billing processes using automation tools and technical accounting skills. The Role

  • ClickUp is looking for a Revenue Accounting Director or Sr. Director (based on experience) to help us build and scale our revenue, order operations, and billing functions.
  • Reporting to the SVP of Accounting, this role will have responsibilities that span across our global revenue function
  • Develop and improve revenue recognition methodology, processes and procedures and ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with company policy and ASC606 and public company control requirements
  • Lead and act as the primary resource for managing the Revenue, order management, Billing and AR teams and own the revenue recognition process
  • Partner with Analytics and Rev Ops teams to capture and report key business metrics
  • Work with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and other departments to evaluate the impact of contracts for revenue recognition
  • Partner with IT, Product and Sales management to execute new sales offerings, ensure they comply with ASC 606, tax requirements, internal control frameworks, and operational ease to maintain
  • Conduct technical accounting research and document findings in audit ready technical memos with minimal guidance
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation that supports the order-to-cash process, and implementation of billing/revenue recognition software
  • Efficiently lead, manage and streamline month-end and quarter end close, including reconciliations, fluctuation analysis and other reporting requirements
  • Support all external audits and work closely with auditors to drive conclusions on complex revenue accounting issues
  • Own and support all accounting areas that are directly impacted by revenue such as A/R, commissions accounting, sales tax, etc
  • Ensure the Company’s commissions accounting results are accurate and in compliance with ASC 340 and our internal accounting policies
  • Develop an understanding and suggest and implement improvements to business transaction and accounting flow
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and our product teams to ensure the accuracy of the regulatory reports and related financial statement presentation
  • Support various aspects of the regulatory process as it expands into new jurisdictions
  • Assist with indirect tax compliance requirements, including GST, VAT, US sales & use tax, and digital services tax
  • Assist on ad hoc projects and analyses as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting; Masters and/or CPA is preferred
  • 10+ years of accounting experience, with a combination of public accounting and industry preferred
  • Prior revenue experience and strong knowledge of ASC 606 is required
  • Previously ran revenue accounting and revenue operations at a company is required, preferably a public company
  • Experience implementing and/or executing internal controls that are SOX compliant
  • Systems implementation experience is required
  • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and homegrown billing systems preferred
  • Advanced use of automation tools to make processes more efficient, whether it be AI tools, excel VBA or formula coding, etc.
