Sr. Software Engineer - Backend/Infrastructure

We’re on a mission to bring truth to the internet by enabling digital identity verification in a new way. We’re starting by disrupting the antiquated Background Check industry, specifically focused on healthcare credentialing. We’ve built proprietary technology which uses automation, machine learning, and data to create efficient turnaround times and cost effective solutions across all kinds of background checks, which will ultimately power the digital identity use cases of tomorrow.
About the opportunity:We are looking for an energetic Sr Software Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team of highly skilled, dedicated, and efficient developers. 
You will work in a fast-paced environment that is moving together with a common goal to provide the best solutions for our customers in markets desperate for innovation.
Day to day activity as a senior member of the team will be to design and implement solutions that enable the KarmaCheck platform to scale and perform while adding functionality and maintaining our high degree of security. Your knowledge and experience will be leveraged by acting as a mentor and guide to other engineers on the team and your work ethic will shine as you lead by example to continuously improve the product, technology, processes, and culture of the engineering organization
This is a 100% telecommute position with the rare exception of travel for company/team meetings and/or customer engagement.

What you'll do:

• Contribute as part of a cross functional Agile team to design core, backend software components that power the KarmaCheck platform.
• Collaborate with other teams to gather requirements and build tools/infrastructure to empower them and support their needs..
• Design and build software with an eye towards modular, extensible, and scalable design.
• Actively participate in technical product development sessions with other members of the Product and Engineering organization.
• Enhance existing development processes with best practices for continuous integration, testing, and deployment.
• Participate in production deployments.
• Troubleshoot production runtime issues that may arise throughout the entire system.
• Measure the effectiveness of new features, find and address performance issues, and drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in electronic communication channels on a constant basis as part of your daily work.

Requirements:

• 7+ years backend design and development
• 5+ years Javascript experience with a focus on Node JS
• 4+ years developing software on AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Cloudwatch, RDS, etc)
• 2+ years experience with SQL (preferably MySQL)
• Experience architecting and developing large scale distributed systems
• Extensive experience in Server side communications and integrations with 3rd party APIs
• Experience with async data integration patterns and approaches (Webhooks, Pub/Sub, Batch, Asynchronous Messaging, etc.).
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities as is common in a startup environment
• Must have a passion for building GREAT software

• The expected base compensation for this role is between $130,000 - $180,000  for work performed in the United States. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include seniority level, experience level, transferable skills, education, location, business needs, training, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
