General Notes: 

UTeach at UT Austin includes the innovative UTeach STEM teacher preparation program, a national expansion effort for that program, teacher professional development, and a number of local STEM education initiatives, all supporting the improvement of STEM education and the public education system overall.  

 

Purpose: 

The UTeach Office Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the UTeach program office. This position is ideal for students who are organized, reliable, and enjoy helping others in a professional setting. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide front desk coverage. Answer and transfer calls using the standard greeting. Respond to and forward emails. Provide accurate UTeach program information. 

  • Reserve rooms and send confirmation emails. 

  • Assist with photocopying, assembling handouts and folders, etc. 

  • Retrieve and sort incoming mail. 

  • Order office supplies and verify deliveries. 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of supply areas and break rooms. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Competencies Gained: 

  • Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure effective understanding. 

  • Make decisions and solve problems using sound, inclusive reasoning and judgment. 

Required Qualifications: 

Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Ability to commit to a consistent work schedule and arrive/depart on time. Reliability in maintaining a consistent work schedule, including punctual arrival and departure. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Freshmen or sophomores. Minimum of 1 year office or customer service experience. Availability at 8:00am or until 5:00pm. Availability to work during winter, spring, and summer breaks. 

 

Salary: 

$13 per hour 

 

Working Conditions: 

Standard office conditions.
