Job Description

The Field Service Engineer role is primarily responsible for the delivery of field service and remote technical support required to support the Bosch automotive aftermarket diesel business in North America.  The position will serve as a service expert within the diesel category.  Key areas of focus include installation and commissioning, calibration, and repair, service, and maintenance of diesel injection pump test benches (common rail and legacy models), as well as, complementing ancillary test devices.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate, service, and/or repair Bosch diesel test benches using factory prepared diesel test devices and tooling.
  • Calibrate service and/or repair diesel ancillary test devices
  • Coordinate and align the diesel test bench calibration schedule for Bosch Diesel Center (BDC) customers.
  • Work in conjunction with the diesel sales team to support and facilitate diesel equipment and product sales to BDC customers
  • Install and commission diesel test equipment, as required
  • Collaborate with TSS hotline support, as required, in order to provide technical assistance solutions to BDC customers.  
  • Coordinate as required with the Bosch Germany appointed supplier, to ensure calibration equipment is correctly maintained and performing in line with Bosch propriety diesel factory test standards.
  • Conduct and support BDC technical audits, per Bosch standards and instructions.
  • Develop the diesel service skills of other field service associates
  • Ensure technical and functional adequacy of the diesel training room
  • Provide sales leads gathered direct from the service activities
  • Progressively support emerging technologies
  • The job holder will be required to travel frequently within NA, and occasionally, internationally.
  • The jobholder will be required to show flexibility in emergency situations.
  • Effectively and efficiently, use all Bosch resources and costs within jobholder influence.
  • Manage time effectively while managing priorities set through customer demands.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering within automotive diesel industry. Preferably in test equipment service and repair.
  • Possesses a service mentality geared towards assisting customers.
  • Strong aptitude in product design, troubleshooting approaches, and problem solving challenging technical problems in equipment use.
  • Ability to work with a team and collaborate with cross-functional team members.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively at all levels, both within Bosch and with customers
  • Be diplomatic and professional at all times and especially in those rare cases when it is not possible or fair to exceed to a customer’s demands.
  • Have the confidence to contribute suggestions and criticisms (in order that systems and processes may be improved).
  • Understand the goals and operating targets of the division and the way in which this role contributes towards the success of Bosch.
  • Ability to manage data, input data, and generate meaningful reports, as necessary.
  • Proficient in ERP systems; SAP, preferred

Additional Information

Hybrid work schedule, split between the office and the comfort of your home according to operational needs, on average 3 days a week from home, 2 days in the office. 

Travel expected between 30- 50%
