BWXT is currently seeking an Industrial Engineering & Construction Technologist for its Advanced Technologies Lynchburg, VA location!

 

BWXT is People Strong, Innovation Driven - be part of BWXT’s innovation hub. BWXT’s Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches, designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for both internal and external customers.

 

The Construction Technologist is a vital position contributing to effectively support the continuity of operations for BWXT/Advanced Technologies Division. This position is responsible for supporting the construction of facilities and management of facility infrastructure, new construction, renovations, and equipment installation/relocations, as well as facilities maintenance. This position reports directly to the Infrastructure Manager.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Provides oversight support (not direct management) involving multiple disciplines of resources for New and or Renovated Facilities, Maintenance, Electrical, Equipment and any other applicable infrastructure efforts.
  • Ensures contractors (as applicable) receive site training as necessary.
  • Works closely with Project Management/Facilities Engineering/Etc. in planning phases to organize job(s) and infrastructure efforts.
  • Engages in company software systems such as the Change Management System, Preventative Corrective Action/Commitment System, etc.
  • Works with departments outside Industrial Engineering for maintenance and project execution.
  • Works closely with Maintenance to plan, prioritize, and execute planned preventive/predictive maintenance as well as equipment and facilities priorities planning.
  • Assists all disciplines personnel in problem solving, communications, priorities, and conflict resolution.
  • Works with other support groups to execute critical work related to Security, Radiation Control, Environmental Safety Health & Safeguards, Waste Treatment, etc.
  • Demonstrates safety as the top priority.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of an associate degree in a technical field plus four (4) years of experience OR a high school diploma / equivalent plus eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must possess at least four (4) years of relevant construction or industrial engineering experience.
  • Must be fluent in using Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of SAP maintenance and inventory modules is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate experience working with codes including, but not limited to the NFPA, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, etc. as related to intimately working with EH&S personnel in all activities.
  • Must be able to understand various craft disciplines and facility infrastructure systems.
  • Monitors overall Infrastructure performance and completes any modifications as identified in project lessons learned.
  • Industrial maintenance and BWXT facility infrastructure knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to think technically and execute effective problem-solving skills is required.
  • Previous experience with CAD (Solidworks or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully work with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment is required.
