The Role

As the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Chief People Officer (CPO), you’ll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future.  This is a strategic leadership role, integral to advancing the mission and priorities of the People & Culture team. As a trusted advisor and operational partner, the CoS drives key initiatives, oversees strategic planning, manages budgets and cross-functional projects, and ensures seamless communication across stakeholders, including the executive board.

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking strategist with exceptional analytical capabilities, project management expertise, and a detail-oriented mindset. This role requires a dynamic leader adept at navigating complex challenges, streamlining operations, and ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to achieve organizational goals.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)*

Project Management (20%)

  • Establish, enhance and maintain a project framework that includes trackability and metrics reporting for key initiatives across the P&C Function.
  • Lead and oversee key P&C projects and initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop project plans, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress to keep projects on track.
  • Identify and resolve project roadblocks, facilitating communication within and between departments to ensure smooth project progression.

Strategic Planning & Execution (20%)

  • Work closely with the CPO to set and track strategic priorities and long-term goals for the People & Culture function engaging closely with leadership team.
  • Develop and manage the annual strategic roadmap, aligning with company-wide goals.
  • Collaborate with P&C leaders to prioritize key initiatives and ensure their execution aligns with the broader company strategy.
  • Organize and prioritize critical issues and required information for the CPO to facilitate efficient & timely decision making.
  • Drive prioritization and delegation tasks – enable the CPO to scale back time spent on detailed, day-to-day operational decisions and increase time spent on strategic planning and external commitments.

Internal & External Communications (15%)

  • Support P&C with social media and other communications in partnership with MCF on workplace related post and branding efforts.
  • Serve as the point of contact for high-priority internal communications from the People team, ensuring clarity and consistency.
  • Prepare and manage executive presentations, reports, and updates for board meetings and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the CPO in meetings, relaying information and managing follow-ups as needed.

Budget & Resource Management (15%)

  • Partner with Finance and P&C Team Leaders to create, monitor, and manage the People team budget.
  • Oversee budget allocations, track spending, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize resources, control costs, and maximize the impact of People team investments.
  • Advise across division.

Data Analysis & Reporting (10%)

  • Partner with HR analytics to gather, analyze, and interpret key data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Present data-driven insights and recommendations to the CPO, helping to shape People strategies.

Board & Executive Preparation (10%)

  • Prepare board materials, presentations, and briefing documents for the CPO and other executives.
  • Conduct research and compile information to support board discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Coordinate with other departments to gather relevant data and insights, ensuring accurate and comprehensive board deliverables.

Leadership and Team Management (10%)

  • Lead a team, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance
