A Brief Overview

AVP/Executive Director, Strategy & Innovation serves as a trusted advisor and collaboration partner helping Americas region and the associated business segments cohesively translate enterprise strategy into actionable objectives through innovative thinking and process-oriented execution. Directly interfacing with USLA by deeply infusing innovation, the candidate will launch, lead and scale strategic business prototypes within the region to create transformational growth for RGA.

What you will do

  • Facilitate strategic planning within the USLA region and associated business segments

  • Work with US/LA leaders, business development and subject matter experts to translate strategic objectives into actionable initiatives

  • Champion innovation methods and tactics using portfolio innovation and acceleration techniques such as lean startup, business model development, design thinking, rapid experimentation, product-led growth

  • Contribute to development and execution of market level pillar strategies and identify synergies across USIL, USIH, Group Re, and LATAM. Canada, TAI and FS to ensure success of the region

  • Help create and manage content to communicate progress towards goals and the current state of strategy translation and execution to various internal stakeholders.

  • Implement Americas strategic portfolio and quarterly reporting process to include setting objectives and key result targets, key performance indicators, and scorecard reporting

  • Develop and ensure maintenance of the Americas executive dashboard and roadmap to include a regional aggregation of all target metrics, milestones, and progress tracking to monitor business health

  • Champion connectivity forums for strategy and innovation to ensure alignment, share best practices and deliver optimal business value from segmented teams

  • Actively participate in business development activities, idea generation and innovation activities and champion new products or opportunities

  • Provide direction for initiatives with the goal of moving to commercialization/production, or determining and recommending alternate action to stakeholders

  • Lead innovation and strategic business initiatives or portfolio of initiatives within American Market

  • Self-starter who proactively solves problems through research on solutions, industry, marketplace and provides mockups and/or starter deliverables to mature with the teams

  • Fosters a positive, collaborative and engaged work environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in business, finance, or technical field Required

  • 5+ Years of experience in an innovation and/or strategy role Required

  • 5+ Years of financial services experience, preference for background in insurance-related verticals Required

  • 5+ Years of project management experience with medium to large scale projects Required

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in business, finance, or technical field Preferred

  • 5+ Years of supervisory/management experience

  • PMP or similar project management certification

  • ACS, ALU, FLMI accreditations, advanced life insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge

  • Experience with multi-national companies

Skills and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel, and adept at learning and deploying new collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Trello, Slack, etc.) Required

  • Superior people management skills to effectively influence colleagues in both formal and informal reporting structures Required

  • Advanced critical thinking skills, with an advanced ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet tight deadlines Required

  • Strong project leadership and program management experience Required

  • Advanced use of variety of tools and talent to organize information creatively and professionally Required

  • Ability to seek out and secure access to resources as needed across multiple functional areas Required
