Job Summary:

Sr. Linux Administrator with a primary focus on RedHat Enterprise Linux along with proficiencies in other Linux distributions. Provide a critical role in managing the extensive Linux server infrastructure, ensuring its efficient operation, support, and lifecycle management, in a 24 x 7 x 365 enterprise and cloud infrastructure. This is a senior-level engineering role requiring a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving skills. Perform Linux installations, configurations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activities on bare metal hardware, virtual and cloud environments, in an Enterprise and heterogenous high availability infrastructure. Install software releases, patches of the operating system and utilities, third-party products, and open-source software across hundreds of Linux hosts. Work with the Information Security team on identified vulnerabilities, assessing validity and impact to infrastructure and organization and implementing where appropriate. Deploy and support core logging, monitoring, and alerting (notification) capabilities to track health, performance, and maintain system standards. Act as a subject matter expert, especially with regards to problem diagnosis and resolution as needed for data/network center support. Maintain a secure environment by resolving system emergencies with significant impact on the integrity of user data and systems. Escalation Administrator for TOC and after-hours On-Call administrators.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Application and operating system tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Configure/set up, maintain, and troubleshoot servers and services. Participate in corporate-wide IT solutions, planning, and deployment of IT-related projects. Install, configure, and test devices or servers with supporting hardware, software, and networking components. Create and maintain documentation on systems, processes, and procedures. Scripting and tool-development experience in Bash, Perl, and Python, with the ability to refactor scripts and other code. Proactively identify security inefficiencies and compliance issues and implement strategic solutions. Be able to consult with staff on security best practices. Participate in updating and developing disaster recovery protocols. Function as liaison with vendors of software and application products, especially with regards to problem diagnosis and resolution. Develop team strategy and project plans. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma Required and Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or related field (industry experience can be used in lieu of CS field) Required

    Required Minimum Skills:

    Knowledge of Disk SANs and Disk Frames in the HP, IBM and EMC familys. Medium Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
