Description

We are seeking Concessions Cook for Mississippi State University (MSU) located in Starkville, MS that will be responsible for concessions cooking at Davis Wade Stadium (Football), Dudy Noble Field (Baseball), Humphrey Coliseum (Basketball), and other sporting/pop events throughout the year. The ideal candidate will be available for games, has experience in concessions style cooking, and enjoys a position always on the move.
 
Mississippi State University is a large campus in the heart of Mississippi where the Bulldogs reign supreme. Football games bring in 65,000 adoring fans while baseball games bring in 16,000 fans to cheer on their College World Series Champs. 

essential duties and responsibilities

  • Uses flat tops, fryers, combi and impinger ovens, and other equipment to produce excellent food according to specifications.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
  • Communicate with BOH and FOH staff to keep food at par levels.
  • Practicing proper food safety procedures while preparing hot and cold foods.
  • Recording the temperature of food items and communicating with the stand supervisor when discarding spoiled items.
  • Ensuring proper cleaning and sanitizing of food contact surfaces such as/but not limited to dishes, small wares, equipment, and food prep surfaces.
  • Count opening/closing inventory and communicate with other team members.
  • Someone that is team oriented, punctual and has a consistent work ethic.
  • Running food on game-days, assisting in the organization of menu items according to BEOs and event information 
  • Maintaining the highest level of service, safety, and food quality for each event 

 Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2+ years producing food in a high-volume environment preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • ServSafe certified or is available to receive training.

Specialized Qualifications:

  • Must have a firm understanding of all food safety practices including, but not limited to, TCS, temperature logs, and cleaning/sanitizing.
  • Must have knowledge of food preparation/food service with a strong understanding of the execution menu specs, reading production sheets, and completing tasks.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts 8-12 hours depending on business needs. 
  • Working knowledge of a variety of cooking equipment.
  • Availability to work all games.
