The ideal RN candidate will:

  • Have an active RN license for New York State
  • Be a graduate of an approved school of nursing (Associates or Bachelor's degree)
  • CPR certification
  • Have prior experience working in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care (preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with SigmaCare (preferred, but not required)
  • Have an ability to assess resident needs and make sound clinical decision
  • Have an ability to prioritize and coordinate activities of nursing unit

About the position:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a key member of the Nursing Team in assisting and supervising residents in all activities of daily living. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the nursing leader and educator on the unit
  • Direct all care related items from admission through discharge
  • Guide the medical team (MD, LPN and CNAs) as well as all clinical disciplines in a coordinated effort with the resident and family to create a comprehensive interdisciplinary individualized plan of care
  • Together with the other members of the clinical team, responds and reacts timely and according to protocol to prevent re-hospitalizations and potential emergency situations
  • Educates and reinforces clinical competencies of nursing staff in areas such as wound care, ostomy care, foley catheter insertion and care, medication administration through all routes including G-tube and IVs, trach care and suctioning. Exhibits proficiency, or working towards proficiency, in all nursing functions to be carried out
  • Performs tasks such as IV insertion, PICC line care, GT and suprapubic catheter reinsertion, initiate care plans and review the data and sign off on assessments done by the LPN
