The Research Manager, under the direction of and in collaboration with Senior Research Program (Operations) Manager, will be responsible for managing the efficient operation of research activities and ensuring the implementation of all operational changes as provided resulting from Connecticut Children’s Research Institute strategic initiatives. This role will provide direct leadership to the team in establishing and maintaining the delivery of high-quality research.
- Provides direct management and oversight of the Research Operations & Development team.
- Addresses and resolves all issues with established budgets, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates visibility and builds trust among all team members and with external partners.
- Manages and develops personnel within the department; develops and promotes the implementation and use of new policies/ practices/ standard work/programs; partners in the establishment of research goals; oversees production of programs, and completes other duties as assigned.
- Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring.
- Develops and communicates clear performance expectations, monitors work, and challenges individuals to achieve their potential.
- Hires and retains the highest quality staff.
- Promotes employee engagement and provides individual and group recognition to cultivate high morale.
- Drives the development and execution of short and long term plans and corresponding budgets by collaborating with leaders and administration in strategic planning for the Research Institute.
- Executes plans by assigning accountability to appropriate staff, monitoring progress, making appropriate adjustments and finding solutions.
- Maximizes and leverages resources, collaboration and efficiency, and communicates in a manner that fosters understanding, commitment and results.
- Serves as a member of committees, and workgroups as deemed appropriate by Research Operations Director.
- Assists in management of student placement/matching services by Research Operations
Direct supervision of research support staff positions (research assistants, research associates, research coordinators).
Minimum Education and Experience Required
• Master’s Degree is preferred
• Minimum two to three years of management experience in a hospital or academic setting is required
• 3 years or more research experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with health care setting
• Experience with management systems is highly preferred
License and/or Certification
Required:
Connecticut Driver’s License, CITI training
