Overview
The Regional Director EHS will manage multiple safety representatives as directed by their respective Regional Vice President of Operations and the Sr. National Director of EHS. This role fosters a positive safety culture within the region by ensuring the sites comply with all SGWS safety compliance standards, and is responsible for maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and monthly data metrics to report to regional senior leadership and onsite operations leadership. The position provides local site EHS program management, as well as supports the region EHS management efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate safety programs, expectations, and applicable federal & state laws. This position is also responsible to oversee and assist with Fleet Safety and DOT compliance. This position has dual reporting lines to the Region VP of Operations and Sr. National Director of EHS.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Regional VP of Operations, Sr. National Director of EHS and site EHS Contacts to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of EHS processes, policies, and programs to mitigate risks and potential company liability for their respective Region
- Communicate SGWS company programs, rules, and tools related to EHS and DOT compliance
- Oversee the EHS and DOT programs at multiple sites within the region and manage compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, FMCSA and other applicable regulatory requirements
- Establish on-going liaison with District regulatory agencies (State OSHA, EPA, DOT/FMCSA, etc.)
- Conduct risk assessments related to all jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment installations
- Evaluate injury trends within the region, participate in incident investigations, as needed, and support case management by attending regional Worker’s Compensation claims review
- Conduct or ensure that required periodic EHS/DOT inspections are carried out, monitored, acted upon, and documented
- Train and coach others as needed to conform with EHS/DOT deliverables (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc.)
- Ensure that all reporting and compliance tools are being used appropriately across the region and facilitate support as needed
Additional Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Operations, Security, Risk & Claims, Business Continuity, etc.)
- Other duties may be assigned as required by respective Regional VP of Operations and Sr. National Director of EHS
- Influences and promotes change management along with Senior Operations Leadership
- Other job related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/BA in Safety, Health, or related science or a combination of education and experience in the EHS field
- Must hold the CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, CIH, or possess the ability to pursue the credential within 2 years of hire date
- 15 or more years of EHS operational experience, with at least 10 years of experience developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS programs preffered
- Must possess at least 5 years of experience in safety related functions preferably in warehouse distribution centers with automated and manual work environment
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS and Fleet Safety programs
- At least 2 years of people leadership experience
- Working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards including OSHA, EPA, DOT
