Engineering Manager of Data Platform - Core Tech (f/m/d)

As of now, we are looking for an Engineering Manager of Data Platform in Core-Technology!

Together with your data team in the central data domain, you will shape the future of our Data Mesh architecture. You will plan and implement platform, services and tools building the foundation for all data domains to operate on. Understanding and translating requirements from stakeholders, including data scientists, analysts and engineers, you will form a roadmap and deliver it together with your team.

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:

• Architectural Design: Work closely with the other data teams and domains to design and implement a decentralized and modular data platform that ensures data autonomy, reliability, and compliance with data governance standards.
• Data Integration and Interoperability: Lead efforts to establish seamless data integration processes within the data platform and across the data mesh, enabling efficient data sharing while minimising redundancy and data silos.
• Data Governance and Security: Implement and enforce data governance policies and security measures to ensure data privacy, compliance with regulations, and protection against data breaches.
• Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of the latest data technologies and tools, and conduct evaluations to identify and implement suitable solutions.
• Team Management: Provide strong leadership to your team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment, and promoting continuous skill development.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of your services and tools, identifying opportunities for improvement and scalability.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with data stakeholders and teams to understand their data needs, address challenges.
• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Ensure comprehensive documentation of the system you build, configurations, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and seamless onboarding.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Offer prompt resolution to technical issues related to the data platform to minimize disruptions and maintain data operations.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

• Strong understanding of data based applications, pipelines as well as data warehouse architecture concepts.
• Strong understanding of data management, data storage and processing concepts.
• Proficiency in modern data technologies, including cloud-based data warehouses, data lakes, streaming data platforms, and big data tools.
• Knowledge of software lifecycles, data governance, data security, and data quality management.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• On-hands experience with AWS, Databricks, Kafka or Airflow is a big plus.
