Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Progressive Care Telemetry Unit. This is our 6th Floor, General Medical PCU that focuses on total care patients. Telemetry experience is preferred, however, we will consider candidates from all areas of nursing and are willing to train the right nurse who loves learning, and is ready to take their skills to the next level. We are currently seeking experienced PCU Nurses but at this time we are accepting application from those who have Telemetry, ICU, Home Health, Skilled Nursing, Medical/Surgical, or any other acute or critical care background.

As a PCU Registered Nurse, you will care for a wide variety of patients. The 6th floor is a 40-bed General Medical PCU floor with the largest amount of variety, including multi-system complexly ill patients. As a PCU RN, you will care for a wide variety of patients, such as vascular, cardio-thoracic surgical, heart failure, neuro and respiratory. Our patients come from the ICU, as upgrades from floors due to a change in their acuity, and as admits from the ED. Skills needed for this unit include self-driven nurses who can respond quickly to changes in the patient’s condition, critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, positive mindset, and willingness to overcome barriers and challenges by implementing evidence based practice and flexibility. These are also the skills you will learn! This is a newer floor, opened in Spring 2020, and offers all new equipment and supplies. Our model supports learning at all levels. Ratios flex between 1:4-5, however most of the times ratios are 1:5

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.

2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patie
