Job Description
The Bosch Research and Technology Center (RTC) in North America drives innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, integrated circuits, robotics, human-machine interaction, sensors, energy solutions, and advanced manufacturing. With close ties to leading universities and research ecosystems, RTC plays a critical role in transforming ideas into technologies that shape the future — consistent with Bosch’s mission of being Invented for Life.
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the people strategy for our U.S. research hub. This is a hands-on and strategic role, balancing day-to-day HR leadership with the opportunity to design and deliver programs that help Bosch attract, develop, and retain the brightest minds in AI, semiconductors, and advanced R&D.
The ideal candidate is an experienced HR leader who thrives in dynamic, competitive markets and is passionate about creating a world-class candidate-to-employee experience. You will lead a local HR team while also rolling up your sleeves to build programs in compensation, talent pipelines, and employee engagement that directly support Bosch’s cutting-edge research environment.
This position is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, with additional responsibility for our Lakeview Forest, CA, and Pittsburgh, PA locations, requiring 15% travel.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
- Partner with research leaders to align people strategies with RTC’s innovation priorities in AI, semiconductors, and advanced technologies.
- Lead and mentor a local HR team responsible for delivering end-to-end HR programs across the employee lifecycle.
- Balance long-term people strategies with hands-on execution to ensure a seamless candidate and employee experience.
Talent Development & Engagement
- Support leaders in identifying and developing high-potential talent through targeted development plans and coaching.
- Contribute to employee engagement strategies, surveys, and action plans that foster a positive and innovative culture.
Compensation & Retention
- Design and implement competitive compensation programs tailored to talent markets where AI and semiconductor expertise are in high demand.
- Conduct benchmarking and analysis to ensure Bosch RTC remains competitive as an employer of choice.
- Partner with leaders on retention strategies and recognition programs to retain key talent.
Talent Acquisition & Early Career Programs
- Drive full-cycle recruitment strategies to build diverse and highly skilled research teams.
- Optimize and scale internship and university relations programs, strengthening Bosch’s future talent pipeline through close partnerships with academic institutions.
- Oversee onboarding programs that connect new hires to Bosch’s culture and mission of “Invented for Life.”
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide guidance and recommendations on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
- Ensure compliance with California and federal labor laws as well as Bosch standards.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, openness, and collaboration that reflects Bosch’s values.
HR Operations
- Oversee HR operations including payroll, systems integrity, reporting, and compliance audits.
- Represent HR on the site leadership team, supporting both local and global HR requirements.
- Serve as a key member of the site crisis management team
