WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a member of the Alumni Impact team, you will contribute to the experience, learning, and impact of TFA alumni living throughout the state. Your unique role will be to manage alumni event operations and communications strategies, as well as maintain strong alumni data systems, in support of a thriving alumni network.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

The Director of Regional Impact will serve as an external leader responsible for cultivating strategic community partnerships that amplify our mission. Reporting to the Chief External Affairs Officer, this role will develop and execute comprehensive strategies  that accelerate progress toward our 2030 goal.

Community Impact Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with key players and high impact stakeholders in your community to set a strategy to accelerate local progress toward the 2030 goal 

    • For example: Launch a coalition of partners committed to increasing school attendance in your community by %; join a coalition of partners committed to increasing reading proficiency in your community by %.

  • Develop content expertise in evidence-based strategies, tactics, and policies that advance early literacy and school engagement

  • Represent Teach For America North Carolina with the stakeholders in your community, involving and managing up and laterally to key partners across the team and the organization as necessary

Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships 

  • Build relationships and gain a deep knowledge of the local and political landscape to ensure Teach For America becomes part of the social and educational fabric of the community and foster collaboration and alignment in pursuit of meaningful progress

  • Manage a portfolio of key local stakeholders, leveraging power mapping and cultivation strategies to move stakeholders through TFA NC’s engagement rubric 

  • Support our collaborative and cross-functional work by building and sustaining strong systems to track and communicate progress in your work both internally and externally. Leverage systems already in place to maintain clean stakeholder records across the community that you serve.

  • Serve as the expert on PK-12 issues and TFA’s presence & impact in the local community you serve, collaborating with TFA NC’s Development and Marketing & Communications teams to surface and share stories as needed.

Statewide and Organizational Responsibilities

  • Support and engage in prioritized North Carolina and TFA-wide initiatives. Examples may include include participation in:

    • Staff committees, working groups, and task forces

    • Regional events and programming

    • Corps member & Ignite selection

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related professional work experience required

  • Deep knowledge of the NC PK-12 education ecosystem at the state and local levels 

  • Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder engagement, working across lines of difference, and written/ verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working in or leading coalitions and/or cross-sector partnerships to achieve shared goals highly preferred
