- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Leads and manages a team of communications professionals and overall operation in an area of moderate complexity, scope or risk, while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project/initiative success and achieve business results
- Ability to present and make recommendations to senior management and executives
- Ensures an integrated approach with other business areas, broader organization, and enterprise as appropriate
- Coordinates and prioritizes multiple initiatives and manages resource allocation
- Establishes effective relationships with different Stakeholders, Business Sponsors, Executives and Lines of Business
- Provides support and contributes to the overall discipline and strategy for respective areas
- Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
- Deep knowledge and understanding of businesses/technology, and organizational practices/disciplines
- Sound to advanced knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own function/business
- Focuses on short to medium-term issues (e.g. 6-12 months)
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required
- 7+ years relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of multiple communications disciplines, media channels, internal/external audiences, public relations, consulting principles, lines of businesses supported, banking industry, and customers supported
- Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
- Knowledge of risk management environment, standards and regulations
- Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to senior leadership
- Skill in managing budgets, P&L and resource allocation
- Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of initiatives
- Skill in talent development and performance management
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
- Ability to make an impact, influence and achieve results with effective negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
- Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
- Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines

Customer Accountabilities:
- Oversees/leads the development of communications to address enterprise/business needs/plans, in alignment with internal communications standards and/or goals, ensuring that strategies designed enhance TD's presence with key stakeholders, highlighting TD's brand, community, and innovation initiatives
- Oversees/leads the delivery and management of programs/project plans by assigning and tracking workgroup projects, ensuring established processes are followed, and delivering all projects on strategy, on time, on budget and error free
