POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs plans review for all phases of design, including reports and studies.  Designs drainage and stormwater management systems relating to highway projects.  Prepares calculations used to design drainage/stormwater management systems utilizing computer programs, such as Advanced Interconnected Pond Routing (ADICPR), Hydraulic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS), GEOPAK Drainage, PONDS, etcetera.  Performs all duties associated with the complete assembly of drainage construction plans and specifications for assigned projects.  Maintains thorough knowledge of design criteria, procedures, and engineering policies relative to plans production. Signs and seals engineering documents.

 

Assists the Florida Department of Transportation (Department) project managers with consultant selections, scope preparations, man hour negotiations, schedules, cost estimates and related items.  Oversees a district wide drainage design contract requiring preparation of Task Work Orders, Scope of Services, invoice authorizations, consultant negotiations, budget management, and other miscellaneous duties. Performs duties as Engineer of Record and Project Manager for Department Work Program drainage projects.
