Job Summary
The Senior Director of Equity, Engagement, and Compliance provides leadership to strengthen relationships among the Anchorage School District, students, families, employees, and the broader community while fostering an inclusive and respectful organizational culture. The position leads districtwide efforts related to community engagement, organizational culture, equal employment opportunity (EEO), and civil rights compliance, ensuring district practices support student success and meet federal and state requirements. 

Job Requirements
The following are required: 

1. A type B Alaska administrative certificate or eligible to complete certification within six months of hire, OR a bachelor's degree in education, or a major in a social science field with significant coursework in education.
2. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in education, public administration, compliance, human resources, employee relations, or a related field.
3. Experience developing collaborative partnerships with students, families, community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build productive relationships with employees, students, families, community partners, government agencies, and individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
5. Knowledge of organizational leadership, change management, and federal and state laws and regulations related to civil rights, equal employment opportunity, and nondiscrimination, including Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX.
6. Demonstrated experience conducting or overseeing workplace, student, or civil rights investigations and interpreting applicable laws, regulations, and district policy.
7. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
8. Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships, supervise and develop staff, and build a cohesive team.
9. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate organizational, compliance, climate, and program data to support continuous improvement and informed decision making.

 The following are preferred: 

1. A master's degree in education, organizational leadership, public administration, or a related field.
2. Training or experience in mediation, conflict resolution, or restorative practices.
3. Experience leading community engagement initiatives or facilitating partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups.

Essential Job Functions
Community Engagement and Partnerships

1. Represents ASD at community meetings, advisory groups, and public events related to community engagement, civil rights, accessibility, and inclusive educational practices.
2. Serves as leader of ASD's Volunteer and Community Engagement programs.
3. Works with and assists in the coordination of the Multicultural Education Concerns Advisory Committee (MECAC).
4. Works with Academic Services and the English Language Learners Department to ensure a comprehensive language access plan is in place for students, parents, and community members.
5. Advocates for families and students from under-represented groups in ASD.
6. Collaborates with the Talent Management Department in identifying and implementing culturally responsive recruitment and retention initiatives

 Leadership and Organizational Culture

1. Supports district initiatives that promote equitable access, inclusive practices, and compliance with federal and state civil rights requirements in alignment with the district's strategic plan.
2. Collaborates with district departments to support leadership development and student opportunity initiatives that promote equitable access and participation.
3. Collaborates with district leadership to support equitable access to specialized, lottery, and application-based educational opportunities.
