Corporate Bookmaking (Production)

These departments are responsible for pre-press and manufacturing processes of turning manuscripts into bound books after acquisition all within the desired timeframe and budget.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Support production workflows by updating schedules and documentation, routing proofs, maintaining title lists, and assisting with bound galleys and file preparation.
  • Assist with transmittals, cover and jacket coordination, and tracking timelines for hardcover and trade paperback titles.
  • Gain hands-on experience in children’s and YA publishing, including exposure to estimating, color correction, typesetting, and print production processes.

 

Divisions/ Departments

Corporate Bookmaking supports all publishing divisions. The interns may work with:

Adult: Random House Publishing Group, Berkley Production

Childrens: Penguin Young Readers

 

EBook Production

Ebook Production is part of the Publishing Operations division. This team is responsible for converting all our print files into eBooks, maintaining and updating them once they are in the market. The team looks for ways to improve processes and technology to provide the best digital reading experience.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Support the Ebook production and QA teams by performing technical quality checks on ebooks, proofreading and editing alt text, assisting with backlist quality control, and gaining exposure to CSS, HTML, and digital publishing workflows.
  • Interns will be working with eBooks in various genres.

 

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DETAILS

Penguin Random House offers an immersive 20-week PAID, REMOTE internship opportunity in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, available in our adult, children’s, and corporate divisions. Our interns are also exposed to the publishing process and our business through panels, networking events, and a mentoring program!

 

Your major doesn’t matter—we’re looking for curiosity, initiative, and a passion for books.

Program Dates: September 14th, 2026 – November 20th, 2026 AND January 18th, 2027 – March 26th, 2027

 

REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

  • Available 21 hours/week for both sessions
  • Ready to work full-time by June 2027 (no degree required)
  • U.S. resident during the program
  • 18+ years old

 Pay: $21/hour
