Description

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized individual to serve as Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the financial team. Responsibilities include maintaining the College’s general ledger and accounting records, ensuring the accuracy, validity and completeness of all financial transactions and preparing and running customized reports for the College community as needed to facilitate budgeting and planning. The Senior Accountant also prepares reconciliations of the general ledger account balances to the supporting subsidiary ledgers and other source records, in addition to assisting with the month and year-end close processes and with the preparation of schedules and reports as necessary for auditing and decision making purposes. The Senior Accountant also oversees all requests for payment and reviews disbursements on a weekly schedule, assists in researching and resolving A/P problems on a timely basis, and posts all procurement card expense reports. The Senior Accountant also assures compliance with the College’s accounting policies and practices are in accordance with GAAP.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent experience); two years of experience in a non-profit or higher education institution preferred; with sound knowledge of GAAP standards and practices; understanding of financial issues pertinent to higher education. Demonstrated experience working with current financial databases including Excel, Access and Powersoft Infomaker.  The successful candidate must have excellent organization and time management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Effective project management, problem solving and critical thinking skills with a commitment to accuracy, efficiency and confidentiality are also essential.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with regard to complex accounting principals are necessary for success as is the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
