About the role

Purpose within the Organization:

Provides group or one on one support to university students non-GCU community members who need help developing career-related documents, skills, and plans. These roles serve ground traditional students.

The ACE Centers are open Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 12 AM, Friday 8AM to 5 PM and Saturday 10 to 4 PM.

CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community.

As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Provides group or one on one support to university students who need help developing career-related documents, skills, and plans.  These roles serve ground traditional students.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

  • Provide coaching and assistance for community members, reviewing resumes, profiles, cover letters, sharing job opportunities, industry engagement and other career-related services.
  • Engage in career support initiatives under supervision of assigned ACE Career Services
  • Collect and maintain community data related to career development assistance and suggest potential strategies/community campaigns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and services provided.
  • May be requested to perform administrative duties for the Center Operations as needed.

Equipment Used and Responsibility:

  • MS Office

Qualifications:

  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Have current 3.25 GPA or above and stellar written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Previous Mentoring
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Preferred Availability:  Ability to work 20 hours per week.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
