Senior Fitter EDJ

Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are currently hiring a Senior Fitter at our Southeast Houston manufacturing facility.

As a Structural Fitter, you will be required to perform the following tasks: Job Requirements * Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.

Essential Responsibilities

Must be able to fabricate up to 1" steel plate, flat bar and I-Beams.
Must be able to operate Forklift, Jig Lift and Man Lifts. 
Must be able to tack weld to fit all steel.
Complete knowledge and ability to cut steel with torch, bandsaw, porta band, drill holes, grind, track torch, and transit. 
Must take safety orientation and pass quiz.
Must attend weekly Safety Meetings

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience as Structural Fitter.
Must pass written test using designated drawing with a score of 80 or above.
Must be able to read blueprints.
Ability to work independently or part of a small team and perform required tasks with little supervision.
Must pass drug screen.

Working & Environmental Conditions

Ability to lift metal objects of up to 30 pounds frequently for a minimum of 8 hours per day. * Must be able to work 60 to 70 hours per week.
