Sr. Industrial Designer

Fieldpiece is hiring a talented and experienced Senior Industrial Designer to lead our design efforts and shape the aesthetic and functional aspects of our innovative product lineup. You’ll play a key role in creating exceptional designs that resonate with our customers, align with our brand identity, and elevate the user experience.

The ideal candidate has over seven years of experience in industrial design and a proven ability to create precise, high-quality 3D designs with complex surfaces for injection-molded products.  You’re creative, innovative and focused on the user experience.  You’ve worked with mechanical and electrical products and understand how to accommodate their functions in the design.  Finally, you have excellent communication skills to work across the organization and with external designers and suppliers.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and communicate a clear design strategy and vision that aligns with the overall product and brand objectives of Fieldpiece Instruments. 
• Lead the design and development of new products from concept through production, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, and ergonomic requirements. 
• Advocate for the user throughout the design process, conducting user research and translating insights into design solutions that enhance usability and user satisfaction. 
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and product management, to ensure seamless integration of design elements into the product development process. 
• Participate in design reviews and work collaboratively to address feedback and refine design concepts.  Showcase reasoning behind design decisions. 
• Create high-quality prototypes and mock-ups to visualize and validate design concepts, iterating, and refining designs based on feedback and testing results. 
• Work closely with external vendors and suppliers, providing design direction and ensuring design intent is preserved throughout the manufacturing process. 

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in industrial design, product design, engineering or a related field. 
• 7+ years of relevant experience in industrial design, with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of products designed from concept to production.  
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and production technologies relevant to the consumer electronics or industrial equipment industry.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, Figma, and KeyShot.
