About the role

Summary

This entry-level position supports Ahtna’s Proposals & Pricing function within the Business Support Services (BSS) group by gathering, organizing, and entering cost data used in the development of proposal pricing. The role assists estimating teams in preparing cost models and supporting documentation in response to government solicitations, while building foundational knowledge of cost estimating practices, proposal timelines, and compliance requirements. This position will also involve participating in proposal reviews to learn and grow.

The pay range for this position is $30.96-$37.46/hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Work with the assigned estimating team to gather details and then compile and analyze data to estimate all costs to meet government scope of work.
  • Learn and utilize established standardized processes, tools, and cost models for estimating support.
  • Use established costing factors and methodologies for rates and factors, materials, equipment, tools, labor and vehicle data entry.
  • Collaborate closely with the assigned estimating team to learn alignment of cost estimating support efforts and how they coincide with proposal strategies and deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pricing Strategy and/or Estimating Manager.

 

Supervision

No supervisory responsibilities.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment with an expectation of knowledge sharing, peer support, and maintaining consistent work practices.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); ability to work with spreadsheets and structured templates.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement in completing assigned tasks, manage time effectively, and contribute to proposal quality and timeliness.
  • US Citizenship.

         

        Preferred Qualifications

        • Associate degree, any field.
        • Exposure to cost estimating, payroll, job costing, accounting, or a related field (e.g., internship, coursework, or up to one year of experience).
        • Familiarity with federal contracting concepts (e.g., FAR, Service Contract Act, or government solicitations) preferred.
        • Ability to support development of cost narratives and documentation using Microsoft Word.
        • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures.

        Physical Demands

        Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus), occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
