Commissioning Engineer
Bulk InfrastructureAbout the role
At Bulk, we build and operate sustainable, high-performance data centre infrastructure that powers the digital economy. Our facilities are designed for reliability, security, and efficiency – using 100% renewable energy.
Bulk Infrastructure is looking for a hands-on Commissioning Engineer with a strong electrical background to play a key role in securing quality, safety, and technical performance across our project portfolio. In this role, you will work closely on site at the interface between construction, engineering, and operations.
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be a central part of the project organisation on site. While external parties perform much of the operational commissioning, you will be responsible for coordinating, following up, and verifying that all testing and commissioning activities are executed in line with requirements, test criteria, and applicable standards. You will be involved from the construction phase onwards to ensure continuity and a smooth, integrated transition into commissioning, avoiding handover gaps between project phases.
As our Commissioning Engineer, your key responsibilities will be to:
Plan, coordinate, and follow up commissioning activities on site
Ensure that documentation, requirements, and test criteria are properly met and verified
Coordinate and oversee FAT, SAT, and integrated system testing performed by contractors and vendors
Follow up and help resolve technical issues, particularly related to electrical systems and automation
Work closely with Construction, Engineering, Document Control, and Operations teams
Actively participate in site meetings and ensure commissioning is well represented throughout the project lifecycle
Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and NEK requirements
Contribute to structured and complete handover to operations, including test records and system documentation
Who are you?
You are a collaborative and communicative commissioning professional who works well across disciplines and stakeholders. You are structured in your planning, yet adaptable and flexible when project conditions change. You apply critical thinking to ensure systems meet requirements and design intent, and you remain resilient and calm in demanding site environments. Safety, ethics, and integrity are core to how you work, and you take personal responsibility for quality, compliance, and doing things right.
What you bring:
Electrical technical background, preferably with a trade certificate, or a bachelor’s degree combined with relevant hands-on experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years working specifically with commissioning in complex projects
Solid hands-on site experience from complex projects
Good knowledge of NEK standards and HSE requirements
Experience with or solid understanding of automation and system interfaces
Strong ability to work systematically with documentation, test criteria, and quality assurance
Proven experience from industrial or other critical infrastructure projects; experience from data centres is an advantage
Good communication skills in English
Some travel may be required
What we offer our Bulkies:
A dynamic, growth-oriented workplace with a strong sustainability focus
Comprehensive insurance (health, travel – business & private) and annual health check
Additional time off during Easter and Christmas
Monthly contribution to home internet costs and sustainable commuting
Fully paid parental leave
Take the next step in your career and join us as we build the future of digital infrastructure in Norway and beyond!
