We are seeking a visionary Senior Staff Engineer to join our Growth Engineering Team as a key technical leader and architect. In this role, you will drive innovation, scalability, and performance in systems that accelerate user acquisition, engagement, and retention. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect solutions that enhance our first time user experiences, deliver value to users, improve scalability, and deliver measurable business outcomes. Your expertise will shape our technical direction, aligning it with Velocity Global's mission of breaking barriers to global growth.This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a passion for solving complex problems, enabling business growth, and mentoring technical teams.

You will report to the VP, Growth Engineering.

You will be based in Palo Alto, California, and in-office collaboration is required for at least one day per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Growth-Focused Solutions
• Lead the development of systems and tools to improve customer acquisition, retention, and expansion through personalization, experimentation, and data analytics.
• Drive integrations with third-party tools and platforms that enhance the growth experience.
• Architectural Leadership
• Define and evolve the technical architecture for Growth Engineering systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Provide technical guidance on building solutions that enable seamless user onboarding, data-driven decision-making, and global growth strategies.
• Team Collaboration
• Partner closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and other engineers to translate business goals into innovative technical solutions.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence through mentoring, code reviews, and advocating best practices across the team.
• Technical Strategy
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to ensure Velocity Global stays ahead in the competitive landscape.
• Contribute to the development of long-term roadmaps for technical capabilities aligned with business objectives.
• Execution Excellence
• Guide teams in designing, implementing, and deploying robust, scalable, and secure systems.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements, especially in data privacy and compliance for global markets.

You Have:

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years in a senior technical leadership role.
• Proven experience architecting and delivering scalable systems for growth-focused initiatives, including user onboarding, analytics, and experimentation.

• Ability to bridge the gap between business goals and technical solutions, communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, API design, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong expertise in AWS and distributed systems.
• Experience in one or more programming languages including TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The base pay depends upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified. 

Annualized Pay Range$155,000—$214,000 USD
